A stone arch opening toward the land at dawn Shalom: The Word That Means Whole

Almost everyone knows one Hebrew word: shalom (שלום). Most English Bibles translate it "peace," and that's true — but it's only the surface. In the West we tend to hear "peace" as a negative: the absence of conflict, the quiet after the fighting stops. Hebrew reaches for something fuller. To understand shalom is to understand what God actually wants for you, and it is far larger than a ceasefire.

So what does shalom really mean?

Complete guides, built for reading

Narrated guides

Scripture in full, offline

The Bible text, guides and lexicon work without a network. Audio works offline after you download the narration you want.

On your Lock Screen

One Hebrew word, before the phone even unlocks

The app carries a Word of the Day widget: the Hebrew script, how to say it, what it means, and where it lives in Scripture. It changes with the calendar, works offline, and a tap opens the full word card — the verses, the roots, the related words.

Questions people ask

What is IsraelForYou?

Guides that help Christians understand Scripture more deeply in its own context — its language, land, feasts, and history — and see how the whole story leads to Christ. The website carries each opening; the app carries the complete library.

Where can I download the app?

IsraelForYou is on the App Store — the link is on every page of this site. A Google Play edition is planned; its link will appear here as soon as it is published.

Do I need to know Hebrew?

No. IsraelForYou is not a Hebrew course. The original word is shown only when it helps reveal the meaning and context of the passage.

Is this about Judaism or about Jesus?

About Scripture. The guides read the Bible inside its Jewish world — the language, the feasts, the land — because that is the world Jesus taught in. Every word study closes with a Christ-centered reading of the text.

Are there audio guides?

Yes. Choose a narration and download it in the reader; it then plays offline, in the background and from the lock screen. Your first audio guide is free, and Pro unlocks the rest.

Does it work offline?

The reading library does. Guides, the lexicon and Scripture ship inside the app; a narration works offline after you choose and download it. Audio delivery uses israelforyou.com, while Pro purchase and restore use Apple StoreKit.

Which Bible translations does it quote?

English quotations come from the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Russian quotations use the Synodal translation. Where a guide quotes another translation, it is named beside the quote.
