Privacy Policy
Effective date
September 7, 2026. This policy covers the IsraelForYou iOS application and the israelforyou.com website.
Reading and app data
IsraelForYou has no accounts and no sign-in, and it shows no ads inside the app. A starter collection of guides, Hebrew entries, daily verses and prayers, together with the Bible text, ships inside the app. Verified content updates may be downloaded from israelforyou.com; the current local copy remains available offline. Narration is downloaded only when you choose it.
Your stored reading state — progress, bookmarks, highlights, playback position, your first free audio choice and reading settings — is stored only on your device, using standard iOS storage. It never leaves the device, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes it.
We do not upload your saved progress, bookmarks, highlights, playback position, notes, search text, Scripture text or prayer text. We do not sell personal data.
Content updates
When the app starts, returns to the foreground or opens a link to content it does not yet have, it may check israelforyou.com for a small content manifest and download a localized catalogue of guides, Hebrew entries, daily verses and prayers. The app checks the published size and SHA-256 checksum before replacing its last verified offline copy.
The request identifies the app-content path, language and content revision, so Netlify's standard delivery log can contain those details together with IP address, request time and user agent. It does not contain your bookmarks, highlights, reading progress or the article you are currently reading, and IsraelForYou does not use it to build a reader profile or for advertising.
App improvement analytics
The App Improvement setting is on by default. While it is on, IsraelForYou sends a limited event when the app opens and when you open or finish a guide, open a Hebrew study, use search, download or play narration, share, view Pro, complete a verified purchase, change notification consent, or encounter a key operation error. Search events contain only the number of characters and results — never the words you typed.
Each installation creates a random app-only identifier and a new random identifier for each session. Before an event reaches our BigQuery table, our Google Cloud service replaces both with a one-way keyed value and discards the originals. An event also contains its time, app version and build, selected app language, iOS version, device family, and the relevant guide, word, audio or product identifier. It contains no name, email, Apple Account, advertising identifier or precise location. Google Cloud may process an IP address in ordinary infrastructure logs, but we do not put IP addresses in the analytics table. Event partitions are deleted after about 25 months.
You can stop future events at any time in Profile → Improve IsraelForYou. Turning it off immediately clears events still waiting on your device. Existing server records are pseudonymous and are used only in aggregate to improve the product, understand retention and diagnose failures — never for advertising or to decide what an individual reader sees.
Notifications
Notifications are off until you turn them on. Local reminders — a verse of the day or a prayer at a time you choose — are scheduled entirely on your device by iOS; no server is involved.
If you also opt in to announcements about new guides and Hebrew studies, the app registers with OneSignal (OneSignal, Inc., USA), our push-notification provider. The OneSignal SDK does not start until you opt in. From then on OneSignal receives the device push token issued by Apple and technical details — device model, iOS and app version, language, time zone and IP address — to deliver the announcements and to count their deliveries and taps. It receives no reading data, no name and no email, and we do not use it for advertising or tracking. OneSignal's processing is described at onesignal.com/privacy_policy. You can switch announcements off at any time in the app's settings or in iOS Settings, where every notification from the app can also be turned off.
Campaign measurement
IsraelForYou is advertised on Meta's platforms. So that we can tell which campaigns bring readers and stop paying for the ones that do not, the app includes Meta's measurement SDK. On launch it reports that the app was opened, together with a random app-scoped identifier created by the SDK, the device model, the app and iOS version, language and IP address. When you buy Pro or make a support contribution, it also reports that purchase — the product, the amount and the currency, never your name or your card — so we can tell which campaigns bring readers who stay. It does not report what you read, what you bookmark or what you listen to.
The app never asks for permission to track you and Meta receives no advertising identifier. Campaign attribution therefore uses privacy-preserving paths, including Apple's aggregated postbacks, rather than the IDFA. The app shows no ads. Meta's own handling is described in its data policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Audio downloads
When you request a narration, the app downloads a static MP3 from israelforyou.com, checks its published size and SHA-256 checksum, and stores it on your device. The app never uploads the narration itself or the text you read. If App Improvement is on, the limited event stream records the narration identifier and whether download, play or completion occurred.
Because the file name identifies the narration you requested, the delivery log also identifies that one audio selection. Our hosting provider, Netlify, records and may retain standard logs such as IP address, request time, requested path and user agent to serve and protect the file. IsraelForYou does not use those requests to build a reader profile or for advertising.
Saving Photo Verse images
If you tap Save in the Photo Verse editor, iOS asks for add-only photo-library permission and saves the image you created. The app does not read, inspect or upload the other photos in your library.
App Store purchases
IsraelForYou uses Apple's StoreKit services to load localized products and prices, make and restore Pro purchases, check which Pro entitlement is current, and, once Apple publishes them, process optional fixed project-support purchases. Apple processes the payment and associates the purchase with your Apple Account. IsraelForYou does not receive or store your payment-card details, billing credentials or Apple Account password.
StoreKit returns verified transaction and entitlement results to the app. To unlock Pro, the current app reads the product identifier and accepts only the recognized monthly, annual or lifetime Pro identifier. It keeps recognized current product identifiers in memory while the app is running; it does not save transaction identifiers or receipts. If App Improvement is on, a verified purchase sends only the product identifier, localized amount and currency to IsraelForYou analytics; it sends no transaction identifier, receipt, name, card or Apple Account.
When Apple makes the support products available, project support is offered only through three fixed, repeatable StoreKit consumables. A support purchase grants no Pro access, content, badge or other feature. The app verifies and finishes the transaction but keeps no durable support entitlement.
Apple independently processes App Store purchase information under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
The website
The public site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, traffic sources and which pages are useful. Google Analytics may process the page URL, referrer, browser and device information, an approximate region, and first-party analytics cookies such as _ga. We do not send names, email addresses, form messages, saved reading state or precise location to Google Analytics. Advertising signals and ad-personalization signals are disabled in our tag. Google processes this information under its own privacy terms. The Analytics tag is loaded only after you choose Allow analytics; you can change or withdraw that choice through Analytics settings in the website footer. Declining does not limit the website. The private /admin area separately uses one secure, short-lived sign-in cookie; it is not part of the public reader experience.
Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) as any web server does, to deliver and protect the site. These logs are handled under Netlify's own privacy policy.
If you send a message through a contact or support form, the details you provide (your email address, an optional name, and the message) are stored by Netlify Forms and used only to answer you. We keep messages only as long as needed to resolve the conversation, then delete them.
Third parties
Apple provides StoreKit and App Store purchase processing for the iOS app. Netlify hosts the website and receives form submissions. Google LLC provides website analytics; we disable its advertising signals and ad personalization. There are no data brokers on the public site, and no ads in the app. Google Cloud hosts our first-party product analytics using the pseudonymous records described above. If you opt in to announcements, OneSignal, Inc. delivers push notifications as our processor, as described under Notifications. Meta Platforms, Inc. measures our advertising campaigns, as described under Campaign measurement.
Children
IsraelForYou does not create child accounts and does not collect user text or saved reading state from anyone, of any age. The limited App Improvement events described above are not used to identify or profile a child. App Store purchases are subject to Apple's account and family purchase controls. The website forms are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly keep messages from children under 13; a parent or guardian can ask us to delete one at any time.
Your choices and rights
Saved app data lives on your device: you can delete it by deleting the app, without asking us. You can stop future App Improvement events in Profile at any time.
Purchase records, subscription management, cancellation and refund requests are handled by Apple through your Apple Account and the App Store. The app also provides Restore Purchases to ask StoreKit to sync eligible purchases.
For messages you sent through the site, you can ask what we hold and have it corrected or deleted — write to hello@israelforyou.com or use the contact form. We answer within a reasonable time.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with an updated effective date. The version on this page is the one in force.
