## Начало

Раз в году в Израиле наступает необычная тишина. Пустеют дороги, прекращаются полёты, закрываются магазины. На проезжую часть выезжают дети на велосипедах. Из домов выходят люди в белом и направляются в синагогу; многие проведут там большую часть дня. Впереди около двадцати пяти часов поста.

Наступил *Yom Kippur* — Йом Кипур, День искупления, который по-русски часто называют Судным днём. Им завершаются десять дней покаяния, начавшиеся в *Rosh HaShanah*, еврейский Новый год. Это самое торжественное время еврейского календаря: человек просит Бога о прощении и думает о том, что ему предстоит исправить.
